There has been a global explosion of training opportunities focused on introducing researchers to qualitative methodologies and gathering data. However, once the qualitative data has been collected, knowing how to
make sense of what you using rigorous analysis processes is critical.

This workshop addresses this void in training by focusing on the foundational knowledge needed to engage in qualitative methods. Over two days, participants will learn basic steps for designing a qualitative study using focus groups or individual interviews methods. Participants will also gain a foundational understandings of  the core principles of analysis and have hands on opportunities to develop their skills.

Who should attend?
NIH Fogarty Global Health Program Fellows and Scholars seeking foundational qualitative study implementation and data analysis skills will benefit most from attending this workshop. Attendees must have an introductory knowledge of qualitative research and methods, including familiarity with conducting in‐depth interviews and focus group discussions.

Materials have been provided for those without or needing to refresh their introductory qualitative research knowledge resources in advance of the virtual workshop sessions. Oral and written proficiency in English is necessary to participate. Acceptance in the 2023- 2024 NIH Global Health Program for Fellows and Scholars Program is required.
