Nigeria (HBNU) Isaac Akinkunmi Adedeji, PhD, graduated from the Sociology Department, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He teaches Medical Sociology/Anthropology and Bioethics at the Department of Sociology, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Nigeria. His fellowship site is the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. His research will focus on developing a culture-sensitive framing for the training of Alzheimer’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease-Related Dementias caregivers.

Mexico (GloCal) Angel B. Algarin PhD, MPH is a current NIDA T32 postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, San Diego Department of Medicine. Dr. Algarin will spend his GloCal Fellowship year understanding the impact of Preexposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) stigma on PrEP knowledge and interest among transgender women in Tijuana, Mexico using a mixed-methods approach. Findings will be key in informing future interventions and policy to improve PrEP uptake among transgender women in Tijuana.

Uganda (GHES) Dr. Andama is a fellow at Makerere University College of Health Sciences in Kampala, Uganda, under the mentorship of Dr. Achilles Katamba, Prof. Luke Davis and Prof. Adithya Cattamanchi. His research will focus on evaluating oral swabs for tuberculosis (TB) testing using the GeneXpert Ultra among people living with HIV (PLHIV) in a hospital and two health centers in Kampala. His research focuses on determining if oral swabs can be used to rule-out active TB disease.
